Chandan Takkar, MD
Chandan Takkar, MD obtained her bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from Government Medical College, Amritsar, India in 2004, prior to migrating to the United States of America in pursuit of higher education. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine in 2009 at University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Texas and was selected to be one of the chief residents for the academic year 2009-10. After completing her chief residency, she completed a clinical fellowship in the division of Nephrology and Hypertension at UTMB from 2010-2012. Subsequently she joined the clinical faculty at UTMB in the division of Nephrology until she moved to San Antonio in 2013. She joined the division of Nephrology at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in Aug 2013. Her areas of special interest include disorders of bone and mineral metabolism and hypertensive disorders. She strongly believes in patient education and active participation in their health care to attain optimal outcomes. In addition to providing patient care, she is involved in utilizing quality improvement methodology to evaluate and improve patient outcomes.
